 king will encourage us to continue to expand the efforts of our club's Div
 ersity\, Equity\, and Inclusion Committee. The 2024 networking event will
  be held bi-monthly the third Thursday from 5:30-7pm at Pimento Jamaican K
 itchen\, 2524 Nicollet Ave\, Minneapolis\, MN 55404. This week's featured
  business leader is Nekima Levy Strong\, founder of the Racial Justice 
 Network\, and owns two companies\, Dope Roots and Black Pearl\, LLC. In 20
 24\, she was honored as a Minnesota Attorney of the Year for her work on a
 n environmental justice case against the city of Minneapolis\, called Smar

 and wrap up Nekima Levy Armstrong is a civil rights lawyer\, legal scholar
 \, activist\, entrepreneur\, community leader\, and Executive Director of
  the Wayfinder Foundation. Nekima previously served as President of the M
 inneapolis NAACP and as Professor of Law at the University of St. Thomas L
 aw School\, where she founded The Community Justice Project\, an award-win
 ning civil rights legal clinic. Nekima’s work as a racial justice advoca
 te\, thought leader\, and commentator has been featured in the New York Ti
 mes\, on Oprah.com\, the Washington Post\, Bloomberg News\, the Star Tribu
 ne\, the Minnesota Spokesman Recorder\, the Black Wall Street Times\, MSNB
 C\, ABC\, PBS\, and CNN\, to name a few. Nekima received her Juris Doctor 
 (JD) from the University of Illinois\, her B.A. in African American Studie
 s from the University of Southern California\, and she attended the Brooks
  School (an elite boarding school) in North Andover\, MA for high school.
   Nekima is a native of Jackson\, Mississippi and was raised in South Cen
 tral Los Angeles. She is the author of a social justice children’s book 
 entitled\, “J is for Justice”\, which teaches young children about the
  power of protesting and advocating for justice. She is also the host of t
 he “Justice & Power” podcast\, which can be found on Apple and Spotify
 . Nekima is the founder of the Racial Justice Network\, and owns two compa
 nies\, Dope Roots and Black Pearl\, LLC. In 2024\, she was honored as a Mi
 nnesota Attorney of the Year for her work on an environmental justice case
  against the city of Minneapolis\, called Smart Growth.
