THREE ASSEMBLY OPENINGS AVAILABLE! SIGN UP TODAY! On Wednesday, November 25, members of the Rotary Club of Edina, along with members of the Edina Morningside Rotary Club, prepare and deliver Thanksgiving meals to families in need throughout the Twin Cities region. A roasted turkey, stuffing, cranberries, potatoes and gravy along with vegetables, oranges, even a delicious pie, make their way to area homes via active Rotarians and their families. With a side of warm knit mittens to help with the coming winter, these Thanksgiving Baskets bring some brightness and joy into the holiday season. Look for further details, your invitation to sign up and safety procedures delivered to your email this week. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, basket packing teams will be limited to no more than six people per team and a team captain should be assigned. Two different team captains (1 per station) may sign up for each 10 minute assembly period. Registration is now open for assembly times by clicking HERE. Please let Becci Michalski at rmichalski@edinarotary.org know if you need assistance with signing up to volunteer.
Following guidance from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to help slow the spread of COVID-19 and in accordance with Gov. Tim Walz’s Executive Order 20-99 the Rotary Club of Edina will stop holding in-person meetings beginning Thursday, November 26th and for the remainder of 2020.
The December 3rd and December 10th meetings will be conducted via ZOOM and the December 17th Holiday ZOOM Party is still scheduled to take place. Please contact Becci Michalski at rmichalski@edinarotary.org with any question or concern.
The Rotary Club of Edina has once again collected holiday gifts for families and youth. More than ever, this year there was a need for help and support. Rotarian Jean Morrison organized the Holiday Giving Program which donated to Cornerstone and 66 West again this year. Items wished for and delivered were:
Cornerstone: Gifts for families as they are hunkered down this winter – puzzles, adult and children’s coloring books, small toys, games. They are also in need of plastic snow mittens for kids, coats, and boots for adults and kids and women’s pajamas.
66 West: Gift cards from Target, Cub Foods, Marshalls and WalMart.
Join us for the Edina Rotary Happy Hour/Vocational Development Group. The next gathering will be Wednesday, December 2nd, from 6:00 to 7 p.m. via ZOOM. The event will feature a short social period, with a "formal" program beginning at 6 p.m. Each person will have a brief opportunity to introduce themselves and make new connections. Our featured speaker will be Kayl Beehler, Marketing Associate at Village Shores Senior Community. She will be sharing information that is relevant to her profession followed by a short Q&A period. Rotary Vocational Happy Hour is a collaboration between the Rotary Club of Edina and Edina Morningside Rotary Club. Contact Renee Harberts or Wade Thommen for more information.
December 2 featured speaker is new Edina Rotary Club member, Kayla Beehler, Marketing Director of Village Shores Senior Community. The ZOOM link will be sent to you by Renee Harberts.
The Rotaract Club of Edina is sponsoring a light our community service project, "Lighting The Holiday Season" scheduled for Saturday, December 5th. This holiday light hanging service is looking for community member homes wanting to add some holiday light cheer but not climb the ladder. Shelter Box will receive any donations made for our service.
PLEASE READ! During our December 10, 2020 ZOOM meeting, members of the Rotary Club of Edina will have the opportunity to vote in the election of nine open board member positions. It's important we have a strong attendance of members present to vote, so please plan to ZOOM attend the Dec. 10 meeting for at least the first 20 minutes to participate in the election. Per our club by-laws, we need 56 members to participate in the election of next year's incoming officers.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, the year's Holiday Party will take place virtually. The Peterson Family Trio will perform from their living room on December 17, 2020 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mark your calendar. Register early and the link will be sent to you with additional details. Register HERE. Add your favorite holiday song to the tag line or comments section. Paul is generously gifting those who register early the link to his latest digital Chirstmas album, "A Different Kind of Christmas" (a $10 value). All the holiday season classics are included like "White Christmas", "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas", "Do You Hear What I Hear" plus seven more "minor" related tunes. Paul will also be taking Holiday themed song requests. Make a list of your favorites and we'll past them along. Register for the Holiday Party today.

The Edina Rotary Global Scholars Program officially launched this fall at Edina High School. We are searching for internships and volunteer opportunities for students who are working on their Capstone research projects. Please read the seven students short biographies and research interests here.

Back to the ZOOM only platforms and the continued excellent editing talents of C-Vision Productions (Chris Laskowski) it has been decided to make better use of the taped and edited meetings that are posted to You Tube and use them as our new "In Review" format. This will eliminate the duty of "The Barker" note taker/writer and we will, for the time being, no longer publish written reviews. In-person meeting photos will resume when we can meet again. Keep in mind watching the You Tube video counts as a make-up. Let Becci know what meeting dates you watched and she will mark you as attended.
We will post the link to the last meeting video taped (see above) and photos from the meeting.
Thursday, December 17, 2020 there will be no lunch meeting. We will celebrate the season with a virtual holiday zoom party beginning at 6:30 p.m. Due to updated Covid-19 guidelines there will be no in-person meetings in December. Please stay tuned for updates.
The Rotary Club of Edina's Administrator, Becci Michalski, works part time and will respond to your inquiries within 24 hours. Contact her at rmichalski@EdinaRotary.org or voicemail /text message at 612-234-7390.
