Thursday, October 24th is World Polio Day. Governor Tim Walz and Mayor Jim Hovland have proclaimed it to be Polio Awareness Day.
In September of this year there was confirmation of a 10-month-old child who has contracted polio in Gaza is a stark reminder that as long as polio exists anywhere, it is a threat everywhere. Rotary donated $500,000 to the Global Polio Outbreak Response Fund. There was a 2-day Humanitarian Pause in fighting in the Gaza strip so that 560,000 children under 10 could receive the first round of vaccinees. The second round started on October 14th.
Rotary committed $500,000 to bolster the initiative, channeling these funds through a dedicated Polio Outbreak Response Fund. This contribution represents Rotary's sustained support to the WHO in combating polio globally.
Become a member of the Polio Plus Society by committing $100/per year. You will receive a certificate and a special pin along with the knowledge that you are making a difference. Go to: www.rotary.org/donate and select the Polio Fund / OUR DISTRICT IS 5950 / CLUB NUMBER IS: 2112
Thank you for your contribution to help put us back on track to End Polio Now.

Hurricane Helene has caused widespread devastation in Florida, Georgia, and the Carolinas, leaving countless families in need of urgent assistance. Rotary Zones 33/34 are responding swiftly, and your support is crucial in helping the hardest-hit areas. Through the generous anonymous donation from a fellow Edina Rotarian an additional $5,000 donation was sent to the Rotary Zones 33/34 disaster relief fund. This quick and helpful additional response to a catasophic event was made possible by the thoughtful action of just one person embracing and putting into really practice the Four Way Test. Thank you for your extended generousity.
