Stories
Oct 23 Speaker: Heather Flies, Social Media and Our Youth
Heather Flies has been the Junior High Pastor at Wooddale Church longer than many of her students have been alive. She began her ministry at Wooddale as the Junior High Associate in 1996. In 1998, she joined the pastoral team.

Outside the walls of Wooddale Church, Flies spends a great deal of time and energy as a communicator and has authored "I Want to Talk to My Teen About Girl Stuff" (Standard Publishing) for parents and her book for teenagers, "That’s What She Said/That’s What He Said," (Summerside Press).

NEED ONE (1) MORE TO SIGN UP  You can sign up HERE.

The Rotary Club of Edina’s Youth Service Committee seeks volunteers for its third-grade literacy project on Wednesday, Oct 29, 1:15 to 1:35.

As part of the project, Rotarians read the book Andy & Elmer’s Apple Dumpling Adventure to local students and discuss ethics with them. Andy & Elmer’s Apple Dumpling Adventure is the story of a young entrepreneur who starts an apple dumpling business. With the guidance of a mysterious voice conveying the Four-Way Test, he turns his venture into a wonderful success and makes friends along the way.

One more volunteer is needed to read the book to classes and distribute copies of the book to students. More information is below and you can sign up HERE.

Fall Fireside Chats Nov 3 and Nov 11
The Rotary Club of Edina Fall Fireside Chat schedule has begun and is looking for two additional hosts. These small and casual social gatherings give experienced and freshman Rotarians the opportunity to get to know each other and learn about Rotary. Usually held in the host member's home as a come and go gathering, it's a nice way to conversationally and personally connect with your fellow Rotary friends. You're invited to attend all the scheduled chats or pick one that works best with your schedule. To allow the host to prepare, please register for each gathering you plan to attend. Let Julie Westbrock know if you any questions or would like to be added to this Fall Fireside host schedule.

Join the Youth Exchange Committee Today!
The fundamental goal of a Rotary Youth Exchange committee is to foster international understanding, goodwill, and peace by allowing young people to immerse themselves in another culture, learn a new language, and develop lifelong leadership skills as global citizens. We are looking for Rotary Club of Edina members to collaborate with the Edina Morningside club as a committee with the goal of re-energizing and supporting this cross-cultural experience for high school-aged students. Please contact Edina Morningside member, Cathy Hogan or RCE Youth Services Director Brent Lundell for additional information. Learn more about Rotary International's Youth Exchange program HERE. We are planning to host a student(s) in the 2026-2027 school year and need members to join today.

From Sutton McGraw:
Thank you for your calls, and checking in. It really has been a hard time for me so the calls really helped. The flowers you sent were beautiful. I've missed all of you very much & look forward to my return. I so appreciate your friendship & generosity. Much love, Sutton

From Mary Swendsen:
When I came home from surgery at Mayo, I receive this beautiful, large and very colorful bouquet. It brightened our whole family room! I was so touched by Rotary's thoughtfulness. My surgery had been twelve hours long so I spent several days on the couch, letting my body heal. Seeing that bouquet each day, reminded me of how wonderful my friends at Rotary are! Thank you, Mary Swendsen

From Bravo Zulu House:
