August 29, 2025 -- Can Do Canines, a nationally recognized leader in the placement of assistance dogs for people with disabilities, selected Jeff Johnson as the new Executive Director. Johnson began in this role in December 2024. Since 1989, Can Do Canines has provided more than 900 assistance dogs to people with disabilities, all free of charge. The fully trained dogs are provided to clients who live with disabilities that involve mobility challenges, hearing loss or deafness, seizure disorders, diabetes complicated by hypoglycemia unawareness, or childhood autism. They also train facility dogs to be placed in places such as hospitals or with a community service provider.
Right now we have two major events coming up in the 2 to 4 weeks. This is your oppotunity to serve our community by volunteering some time promoting, attending and participating in The Rotary Club of Edina Car Show and the Hearts of Gold Gala. Take a look at the car show volunteer list HERE.

All Hearts of Gold Gala raffle ticket have been distributed either in-person or via USPS mail. Please return completed raffle tickets and payment to Becci Michalski or send to Edina Rotary Foundation, PO Box 24481, Edina MN 55424 by Sept 22. Any unsold raffle tickets as packs or individual tickets should be returned to Becci Michalski by Sept. 22. Per state and city permit guidelines, all tickets and stubs must be accounted for before the drawing on Sept 27.
Your District Governor Line has begun the process to select our 2028-29 District Governor. If you have served as a District 5950 club president and meet the other qualifications:
be an active member in good standing of a functioning club in the district.
have served as club president for a full term or as charter president for at least six months prior to the application submission.
demonstrate willingness, commitment, and ability to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of a governor

On Sept. 15, MnDOT will close all of the remaining Minnesota Highway 100 off ramps and all but one on ramp at West 50th Street/Vernon Avenue as part of the bridge and interchange project. They are expected to be closed until mid-November. This will have significant impacts to the Grandview and 50th & France areas, with our meeting location at the Edina Country Club smack dab in the middle! Private helicopter parking may be available to the highest bidder at the south end of ECC parking lot :). Stay tuned for detour route suggestions.

Ram founded Gada & Associates in 1980, served as the MN Chapter of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, on the board of Energy Conservation Committee and has extensive MN Historical Society board and advisory experience. He has also served on the boards of Twin Cities Nonviolent, MN Multifaith Network, India Association of MN and many others.
Ram's membership application including any member notations and comments has been presented for board review and approval via electronic vote.
