Speaker for Sept 12, Kelly Roysland, Asst. Coach, U of M Women's Athletics
A former standout player and assistant coach at Minnesota, Kelly Roysland enters her second season on staff after being named assistant coach for the Golden Gophers on April 23, 2018.

Among her duties at Minnesota, Roysland works with the team's forwards, helps prepare scouting reports and game strategies, and serves as the liaison with the academic offices.

Sip and Serve Event, Sept. 12
363© Days Food Program partners with volunteers across the Twin Cities to distribute sandwiches to the homeless and hungry!  Come join your fellow Rotarians for an early evening of fun and service as we prepare 300 sandwiches for our neighbors in need. Allan Law, a retired teacher, who is the inspiration behind and founder of  363© Days Food Program will join us to and pick up the sandwiches and give us more information about the program. Human Trafficking Panel Discussion on Sept. 19
TAKING ACTION TO PREVENT HUMAN SEX TRAFFICKING: Learn what you can do to increase the safety of our children!  The Edina Rotary invites you to join us on September 19th, 11:30-1:30 p.m. at a weekly meeting that will start early as we present a workshop on Human Sex Trafficking Prevention. Online guest, club and visiting Rotarian registration has closed for this event. We may be able to accommodate last minute attendance requests. Please contact Becci Michalski at rmichalski@edinarotary.org for current seating and meal availability.
 
MEMBERS: Arrive early. Doors open at 11:30 am with lunch being served at 12:00 sharp. The room will be at near capacity, good seats will go quickly. Media coverage is anticipated with Fox 9 and Kare 11 expressing strong interest in covering this event. 
 
We recommend guests sign in early as all Clubs in the District and key Human Trafficking Prevention agencies have been invited. Cost for the event is the same as a regular Rotary Club of Edina meeting: Senior Active and Honorary members pay $20 at the door, as do any guests. Regular members have already paid for the meal on their quarterly invoice.

Rotary 101 District Training - Sept 21 - Chaska
Rotary 101 - Learn what Rotary is all about and more! Retention Russ, District Governor – would like to warmly welcome you to a 2.5 hour workshop. The Rotary 101 training will be offered by District 5950 in Chaska on Saturday, Sept 21. Rotary 101 has been designed for new members, less than 4 years, or anyone looking for a refresher to learn more about Rotary and the many aspects of Rotary!  It is a chance to increase the value of Rotary by increasing members level of knowledge!

Gala Invites - Dinner and Program Tickets Available
Check your USPS mailbox, the 2019 Edina Rotary Foundation Gala invitations and RSVPs have been sent out.  Dinner and program tickets cost $150 each with September 25, 2019 being the reservations deadline. This date is firm and no refunds will be given. There are some great silent auction items, top of the chart entertainment, great food, fun venue and quality and productive time will be spent with Rotarian friends. You don't want to miss this very special evening.

"LAST CALL" for Raffle Tickets

Gala Raffle Tickets are still available for purchase. This year's Raffle is sponsored by Wooden Hill Brewing Company and features a $1,000 Grand Prize and five (5) $100 Second Prizes. 
 
Members who haven't purchased a Hassle-Free Sponsorship Package are expected to purchase at least $150 in tickets (10 tickets @ $15/each) for their own use or for gift or sale to friends, neighbors, or customers.
 
Payment must be made by cash or check payable to the Edina Rotary Foundation. Ticket stubs and payment must be received no later than Thursday, September 30th. State law requires that all tickets be returned to the Raffle Committee, whether sold or unsold.

EMRC Pints for People - Sept 27

Edina Morningside and South Metro Minneapolis Evenings Rotary clubs are holding their annual Oktoberfest Fundraiser! This charity beer tasting event raises funds for the EMRC and SMME Rotary foundations and will go toward worthwhile projects around the globe and in our backyard.

The event will be held at the Edina Country Club located at 5100 Wooddale Avenue, Edina, MN 55424.

Camp Enterprise - Nov. 7 - 9 Volunteers Needed 

Camp Enterprise is a three-day camp for high school juniors and seniors designed to introduce students to the free enterprise system and encourage entrepreneurship and ethical business practices. The experience is often life changing. Each year, at least five (5) $1,000 higher education scholarships are awarded to students of exceptional merit. In total, Camp Enterprise has awarded more than $80,000 in scholarships since its inception. We are looking forward to another successful year. Bahama Relief:
Shelter Box is currently assessing the situation on ground in the Bahamas. It’s reported that more than 20,000 homes were damaged or destroyed. They will move in once the government has finished assessing. There’s a brand-new Rotary Fund called the Disaster Response Fund.  More info at https://www.rotary.org/en/our-causes/disaster-response
 
Gala Update -  Oct 5th, 2019 - The money raised is used for every good work that we do throughout the year.  The entertainment this year will be the Edina High School band,  orchestra, choir and theater dept. Savings has been extended until Sept 10th  on early bird tickets.

The Edina Country Club is pleased to present the following lunch menu selection on Thursday, Sept. 26th. Buffet Lunch of Pork Tenderloin Marsala and Chicken Piccata. Lunch service begins at 10 minutes early this week with program starting at 12:25 am and ending at 1:30 p.m. Visiting Rotarian's and non-Rotarians are welcome to join us. Cost is $20 per guest for lunch and program.
