Mar. 6: Rotary Club of Edina Hosts India Day
India Association of Minnesota + Rotary Club of Edina and Edina Morningside Rotary Celebrate Asian Indian Culture, Charity and Connection
 
The Rotary Club of Edina March 6 meeting program will center around the Asian India culture with India Association of Minnesota speakers, dancers and feature the food of India. This member attended event is a collaborative effort of IAM, Rotary Club of Edina and Edina Morningside Rotary Club to foster a global understanding of shared challenges and the promotion of mutual prosperity. The program presenters will be Srividya Vaidyanathan, President of India Association of Minnesota (IAM), Purna Gurram "GP", Vice Chairperson of the Hindu Society of Minnesota (HSMN), and Ram Gada, honorary Board Member of the India Association of Minnesota. 
 
Registration to attend is required. Regrets appreciated. Deadline is NOON, Monday, March 3rd. For Rotary Club of Edina members this event is included in their quarterly meeting fee package. RCE senior active, guests, general public and Edina Morningside member cost is $27/per person.
Mar 7 Connecting with Kids Awards Breakfast
Please join the Edina Community Foundation to honor My Very Own Bed Founders and Rotary Camp Enterprise the morning of Friday, March 7. These two organizations have examplary adults and youth who uplift and empower children throughout the area.
 
The Edina Rotary Foundation has provided My Very Own Bed grants, speaker thank you funds, and were the recipient of special recognition during President Michael Stanzak's 2022 ERF Gala, Let's Dance. This non-profit organization has provided over 8,500 new beds and Dream Kits to children moving into Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs housing. Camp Enterprise is an annual volunteer-based three-day camp for high school juniors and seniors designed to introduce them to the free enterprise system encouraging entrepreneurship and ethical business practices.
 
This event will be held at the Edina Country Club on Friday, March 7 beginning at 7:30 a.m. A complimentary breakfast will be served and no reservation is required.

RCE Rotarians Travel to Zimbabwe, Mar 25-Apr 8
Six RCE Rotarians will be traveling to Zimbabwe Africa beginning March 25 through April 8, 2025. Approximately 15 Edina High School Global Scholars or Interact members will be completing their capstone research project. The Rotarians traveling with them will serve as mentors during the time spent volunteering at Bulawayo Hospital (Edina Rotary Foundation International Grant Recipient), building classrooms at a secondary school, as well as immersing themselves in the amazing culture and breathtaking natural beauty of Zimbabwe. Please wish safe travels to Shelly Loberg, Lindsey Smaka, Jen Hendrickson, Susan Stiles, Corey Falls, and Tanwi Prigge as well as the students and their chaperones. We look forward to their travel story and grant success update upon their return.

Guatemala Gift List

Guatemala 2025 is on!  We are returning to Guatemala April 26-May 3, 2025. The purpose of the trip is to deliver 654 life-saving water purifiers to remote villages in the mountains surrounding Coban, in partnership with Resurrection Priory Monastery, St Patrick’s Church of Edina, and the Rotary Club of Coban.  Fellowship and travel to new, exotic places is also part of the journey!  Susan Stiles is heading up a small item children's gift campaign. Hosts for Spring Fireside Chats
2025 Spring Fireside chats are looking for hosts. These informal get-togethers are held in our member's home and attended by 10 to 20 Rotarians. During the chats, members get to know each other and about the club. Hosts typically provide appetizer and beverages, however, and while not required to attend, some hosts appreciate guests bringing and sharing treats and beverages. Chats typically run from 7:00 pm to 9:00 p.m. Please contact Julie Westbrock to get additional details.

Our speaker was Greg Scott who's career in IT spans four decades,
including 15 years in cyber-security.  For the last four years
he has served as a senior technical account manager for Red Hat, Inc.
providing a concierge service to support their most important customers.
Scott's presentation covered point on how the predator thinks and works and
how through education, awareness and vigilance we can feel safer.
