The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Scott Neal as the program speaker at the Thursday, Oct. 18, meeting. Neal is the City Manager for Edina, and will give an update on development in the city.
Rotarian Jennifer Hendrickson will give her Classification Talk at the meeting.
Don't forget we are taking a group photo at the meeting! It is our first membership photo in 25 years! Come dressed for success and wearing your smile!

Edina Rotary held the fall Adopt-a-Park Day Sunday, Oct. 21. Chair Tom Cook and fellow Rotarians gathered to clean up Wooddale and Utley Parks in Edina. Thanks to all who volunteered, including Katy Campbell, Hannelore Brucker, David Clynes and Axel Steuer.
The Rotary Club of Edina hosted the Leadership Ethics Seminar for Edina High School students on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at St. Patrick's Church in Edina. This all-day session featured small group discussions, speakers, and a case study discussion for the entire group.
The Leadership Ethics Seminar was chaired this year by John Buttolph and Sutton McGraw. The seminar was started by longtime Rotarian Jerry Potter, who initiated this seminar for Edina students years ago. It was originally called "Do the Right Thing."
Thanks to all our volunteers!

Autumn has arrived and it is time for the annual Fall Fireside Chats! The Fireside Chat hosted by Thom Winninger is tonight, Oct. 24. There are two events left for Rotarians to attend this week, Oct. 25 and Oct. 26. All Fireside Chats begin at 7 p.m. and include:
Thursday, Oct. 25—home of Gordy Lewis, 6824 Chapel Lane, Edina. Register here. Friday, Oct. 26—home of Paul Mooty, 5320 Kelsey Terrace, Edina. Register here.
Held each spring and fall, the Fireside Chats are very informal social exchanges for members to enjoy and learn about Rotary and to get to know one another. The hosts are asked only to encourage discussion and a good time for all. It is a chance to meet our new members or reconnect with old friends! Members are encouraged to come to all the Fireside Chats, or pick the one that best works with their schedule. We encourage everyone to register to allow the hosts to plan for the event.
New members—you are especially encouraged to attend one or all of the Fireside Chats! It is a great way to get to know your fellow Rotarians in a casual atmosphere. Let us know if you have questions.
The next meeting of the Rotaract Club of Edina will be Wednesday, Oct. 24. We will meet at 6 p.m. at The Mezz at Lunds & Bylerlys, 7171 France Ave. S.
The Rotary Club of Edina and the Edina Morningside Rotary Club are embarking on starting and supporting a Rotaract Club. Rotaract clubs consist of young professionals between the ages of 18 and 30. Meetings will be held at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Wednesdays of the month at The Mezz. Most meetings will feature a speaker and focus on service projects in alignment with Rotary’s mission of “Service Above Self.” The Oct. 24 meeting will not have a speaker, but members will discuss plans for future events.
The first president of the Edina Rotaract Club is Mark Gasner. We do need more Rotaract members. Please contact Sam Thompson at sthompson@transitionsib.com if you have friends, family, neighbors or work associates who are age 18 to 30 and would be interested in joining our Rotaract Club.
Every two seconds someone needs blood. Volunteer donors like you are the only people who can help. Please consider helping and Give Forward at our Edina Rotary Blood Drive on Thursday, Oct. 25! Memorial Blood Centers will have their bloodmobile in the parking lot of Edina Country Club.
Please register online if you are willing to help. A link was sent out last week to those already registered to have them sign up for a time to give blood. (It takes less than an hour...complete with treats).
You can still sign up and please invite family members, friends and neighbors to join you.
Contact President John Flynn or event chair Katy Campbell if you have questions. Thank you for your service to humanity!
We are looking for volunteers for 2018 Camp Enterprise! We need all different kinds of volunteers to make the event a success for more than 100 area high school students. Camp is Nov. 1 through 3 at YMCA Camp Ihduhapi. Contact Camp E Chair Sam Thompson to volunteer, or for more information about our largest Youth Service project. If you are a new member who would like to know more, contact Sam, or go to the Camp E website and learn more, and then volunteer!
We also need more students to attend this great camp! We have spots open for Edina students—including children or grandchildren of Rotarians. If you have a family member that is a junior or senior in high school, please share info about Camp E with them and encourage them to attend. They can register here and find out all about the Camp E experience. If you or your student have questions, contact Sam Thompson or this year's Camp E Chair, Hein de Hoog of the Edina Morningside Rotary Club.
Thank you for helping us make this event a success!
The annual Area 3 Rotary Veterans Luncheon is set for Monday, Nov. 12, at Bloomington Hilton, 3900 American Blvd. W., Bloomington. Check-in begins at 11 a.m. with live music, with the luncheon beginning at 11:15 and concluding at 1:15 p.m.
Please register yourself and all guests online by Nov. 1. We need to report our attendance to the planners, so all are asked to register if they plan to attend.
Gen. Denny Schulstad, U.S. Air Force (retired), will be the emcee at the event. Schulstad is a former long-time member of our club. The featured speaker at the luncheon is Col. Ken Rizer, U.S. Air Force (retired).
Each Rotarian may invite up to two veterans as guests of our club, and Senior Active and Honorary Rotarians who are veterans may attend free of charge. Cost for guests that are not veterans will be $25.
There is no Rotary Club of Edina meeting on Thursday, Nov. 15, at the Edina Country Club. All members are encouraged to attend the Veterans Luncheon.

The women of the Rotary Club of Edina gathered last Tuesday, Oct. 9, at the home of Bonnie Rolstad for food, fun and fellowship. Women in Rotary events are held a few times a year, and are open to female Rotarians and any friends or colleague they that might be interested in learning more about our club. Thanks for hosting, Bonnie!
Rotarian Doug Johnson is still looking for help with a Rotary service project. Doug is one of our volunteers who picks up bread each Friday morning from Jerry's Foods in Edina and then drops the bread off at St. Stephen's Church and School, where it is used by the Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen. Doug will be unable to make the bread deliveries in November and December. Can you fill in for Doug for a couple months? Please contact Doug and let him know you can help, and he'll give you more information. The project has several Rotarians that volunteer their time, and it is organized by Dan Hallberg.
Thanks for stepping up to help out a member and take part in one of our Community Service—Local Projects.
Our club went mobile this week. About 50 of our members traveled by bus (or drove themselves) to Faribault Woolen Mill. Our tour guide was our very own member and the current owner of Faribault Woolen Mill—Paul Mooty!
