The Rotary Club of Edina recently presented scholarships to deserving graduates of Edina High School.
The Rotary Club of Edina presents scholarships to graduating Edina seniors who exemplify the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self” and have participated in Rotary programs such as Camp Enterprise, Camp RYLA, fall ethics seminar, Vocational Ethics Day, youth exchange, Edina Rotary Global Scholars or the Interact Club of Edina.
The club presented $1,500 scholarships to Eleanor Karthaus and Olivia Tran and a four-year renewable $1,000 scholarship to Kate Brown. All three women are Edina Rotary Global Scholars.
Guatemala and Zimbabwe, Africa, lie oceans and continents apartfrom each other – and Minnesota. But thanks to the global reach of Rotary International, its local and area clubs and non-profit partners, both countries are now better equipped to provide maternal health and wellness of newborn babies and children. Hospitals in both countries this summer received containers of essential medical equipment for infant delivery, and Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, also received supplies to create a sustainable farm garden to combat malnutrition. A $210,000 international grant, originating and managed by the Rotary Club of Edina, made these projects possible.
Thank you from Olivia Tran, 2022 Edina High School College Scholarship recipient.
"Dear Jennifer, I am sincerely honored to be selected for the Edina Rotary scholarship. Thank you so much for your generosity. This will allow me to expand my studies and pursue a degree in business analytics at University of St. Thomas.
My experience with the Interact Club and the Global Scholars program has opened my eyes to the impact of helping others. I plan to continue my involvement with Rotary and join Rotaract in college. Your scholarship makes it possible to enhance my college experience. Thank you so much for your thoughtful decision. Sincerely, Olivia Tran
Edina Rotary Clubs are looking for Host Families for 2022-23 School Year
Become a Host Family TODAY!! Both students, Sam and Ivo, have arrived and we are looking for two additional host families that wish to expand their world and learn more about another culture while sharing their culture with a Rotary Exchange Student. The primary requirement is a willingness to open your heart and home to an exchange student and accept him or her as your own. Family makeup is less important than a desire to host. Families with or without kids, empty-nesters, single parents.... it’s all a part of the experience! YOU ARE WHAT WE NEED!!
