Members of the Rotary Club of Edina recently completed hands only CPR training led by peers in the Rotary Club of Plymouth.
The Rotary Club of Plymouth offers one-hour Heart Safe training sessions for teenagers and adults who are interested in learning to help save lives. Participants learn hands-only CPR, which teaches chest compressions without mouth-to-mouth breaths, as well as the use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). AEDs detect disturbances in the rhythm of a heartbeat and can treat them through defibrillation, allowing the heart to reestablish an effective rhythm.
The Rotary Club of Edina is supporting a project of Modular and Matter and the Rotary Club of Edina Morningside to develop a “holistic health hub” in the Malusi Informal Settlement in South Africa.
Modular and Matter paid for a fully equipped medical container with three rooms – a central reception area and patient registration room with examination rooms on the left and right. If it is open five days per week in this impoverished area of South Africa, it is estimated that the container clinic will be visited at least 33,500 times per year by residents of the Malusi village.

President John Flynn (our 64th Club President) kicked off our meeting on this sunny, warm (finally), first full day of spring. We were warmly greeted by Heather Hansen and Terry Stevens, and Fred Sylvester and Becci Michalski handled front desk duties admirably. Kaylin Eidsness handled photographer duties. President Flynn presented us with videoed Rotary inspiration talks from Terry Stevens and Tim Murphy which were – well – inspiring! Dave Kunz introduced the guests, including Mary Poppins from Party Pals, and a trifecta of Morning Club members promoting their flower sale supporting Polio Plus. Forest Green gave a succinct classification talk and told us he is in the mortgage lending business with a focus on affordable housing. Renee Harberts told us about the social committee “Bunny Bingo” event coming up on Sunday, April 7th (4-7 p.m. @ ECC).
The Edina Country Club will be serving a lunch menu of Beef Stroganoff OR Berry Chicken Salad.
