At the Sept. 13 Rotary Club of Edina, Past President Jeff Ohe honored another of our Past Presidents. Steve Slyce was recognized for his generous donations to The Rotary Foundation, and achieving Major Donor status! That means Steve has given $10,000 to The Rotary Foundation! Congratulations Steve!
The second meeting of the Rotaract Club of Edina will be Wednesday, Sept. 26. We will meet at 6 p.m. at The Mezz at Lunds & Bylerlys, 7171 France Ave. S. The speaker at the meeting will be Mary Younggren, owner of Advent Group, a temporary staffing agency in Edina. She will provide tips on how to get a job, interview, conduct an interview and information on the industry in general. Younggren is a member of the Rotary Club of Edina.
The first President of the Rotaract Club of Edina is Mark Gastner! Rotarians Scott Hawkinson and Jake Johnson are also on our first board. But we need Rotaract members and board members! Several Rotarians from our club and around the District participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer's Sept. 15 at Target Field! Rotarian Rick Carlson, with the help of Jennifer Hendrickson and Brad Hepp, organized the "Rotary Rally for Alz" team. Thanks to all the Rotarians and friends and family that participated, including the Rotary team organizer, as well as Tom Gump (Edina Morningside Rotary Club), Bridget Hallstrom, Dave Hatzung, Sam Thompson and Sue Spalding, chief executive officer at the Alzheimer's Association, Minnesota-North Dakota chapter.
Rotary Club of Edina will host another Prospective Member Day Thursday, Oct. 4. All Rotarians are encouraged to bring a friend or colleague that is interested in learning more about Rotary and our club to the meeting. Lunch is on the club for all prospective members Oct. 4! Please make sure your guests sign in at the guest table before the meeting.
The program speaker at the meeting will be Kate Mortenson. She will talk about Minneapolis hosting the NCAA Final Four in 2019.
