Beth Burns of the Minnesota Zoo will be the program speaker at this week's Rotary Club of Edina meeting, Thursday, Dec. 11. Burns is vice president of external relations for the zoo, and a member of the leadership team. She will speak about "What's New at the Zoo?" 
 
New member Amir Gharbi will be inducted into the Club at the meeting.
 
Rotary Club of Edina meets at the Edina Country Club from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. every Thursday. All are welcome. Cost for lunch and the program is $18.
 
Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Beth Burns as program speaker at their meeting Thursday, Dec. 11. Burns is vice president of external relations for the zoo, and a member of the leadership team. She will speak about "What's New at the Zoo?" She will give a broad overview of the Minnesota Zoo, and share information about new programs and exhibits, plus offer a behind-the-scenes glimpse into life at one of the country's top zoos.
 
Burns oversees a division that includes the zoo’s marketing, sales, public relations, membership, guest relations, Music in the Zoo, government affairs, and education programs. Prior to joining the zoo staff, Burns served as executive director of Lutheran Music Program for six years and as the director of the Guthrie Theater’s education, public affairs, and regional touring programs for nine years. She has also held positions with MacPhail Center for Music, the University of St. Thomas, and the Children’s Theatre Company. A graduate of St. Olaf College, she is on the board of directors for the Minnesota Music Coalition and is former board member for Minnesota Citizens for the Arts, 15 Head Theatre Lab, and the Minnesota Association for Arts Educators. Burns and her husband, Bob, live in St. Paul with their dog, Josie.
