Congratulations to Doug Johnson! He received the Rotarian of the Year award at the City of Edina's Volunteer Recognition Event April 29. Doug has been a Rotarian since 2000 and is the director of the Public Relations Committee for the Club. He also serves on boards of several other Edina organizations, truly modeling Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self," according to Rotary Club of Edina President Steve Slyce.

Doug Johnson was one of the many residents honored at the City of Edina Volunteer Recognition Event April 29.

He was recognized as the Edina Rotarian of the Year. Rotary Club of Edina President Steve Slyce commented that Doug represents the Rotary motto "Service above Self." He added that Doug is involved in many aspects of the community and serves on the Rotary Board of Directors as the Public Relations Commiitee director.

Doug said when accepting the award, "What an honor it is to be recognized. I can only accept this award on behalf of the many, many folks in Rotary who give their all to be change agents for this community and world." He also said he was very surprised by the recognition, and said "So many folks in our Club are much more worth of recognition than me. I can only accept this award on behalf of all of our great members. We lovingly refer to ourselves as the "best club in the universe" and I totally believe that is true!"
