The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Edina Mayor Jim Hovland as program speaker at the first meeting of the new year. Hovland will speak about the "State of the City" Thursday, Jan. 8. 
 
Rotary Club of Edina member Bill Milota will be officially inducted into the Club at the meeting. 
 
The Rotary Club of Edina meets at 12:15 p.m. Thursdays at the Edina Country Club. All are welcome. The cost for lunch and the program is $18.
 
The Jan. 8 program speaker, Edina Mayor Jim Hovland, has served as mayor of the city since 2005. Previously, he served as an Edina City Council member from 1997 through his election as mayor. He will speak about the "State of the City" at the meeting. 
 
Hovland is an attorney with Krause & Hovland. He and his wife, LaRae Ellingson Hovland live in Edina. They have two daughters, Angela and Erika, both married, and six grandchildren. He is a member of the Edina Morningside Rotary Club.
