Edina, Minnesota, Nov. 13, 2015 — As part of its focus on education and literacy, the Rotary Club of Edina is reading to third-grade classes at Normandale French Immersion, Countryside and Highlands elementary schools this month.

Rotarians are reading the book Andy & Elmer’s Apple Dumpling Adventure by Andrew Shoup. The book is about a young boy, Andy, who starts a business selling apple dumplings. He gets help from his neighbor, Elmer, who has an apple tree, and later on from Becky, who helps transport the dumplings to market.

Through the story, children learn several life lessons. Students get the opportunity to discuss with Rotarians how these lessons might impact the things they think, say, and do in real life. Students also sample apple dumplings with ice cream and receive a book to take home.
