Edina, Minn., Sept. 28, 2011 – The Rotary Club of Edina salutes its ‘everyday heroes’ who have saved 789 lives through blood donations. The club has held blood drives twice a year since 2003 with a goal to reach a thousand lives saved. Although most people will never rescue someone trapped in a burning building, free a victim from a twisted car, or help a drowning person reach shore, nearly everyone can donate blood or assist in a drive to save a life.

The blood drives are held at the Edina Country Club, 5001 Woodale Avenue, Edina, and are open to the public.  All donations go to Memorial Blood Centers of Minnesota, which distributes blood to hospitals throughout the Twin Cities metropolitan region.  These donations help our own community.

To participate in Rotary’s next blood drive, contact Edina Rotarian Dr. Ellen Kennedy at 952-693-5206 or kennedy@worldwithoutgenocide.org

The Rotary Club of Edina meets Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. at the Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave. For more information about the Rotary Club of Edina, visit www.EdinaRotary.org. For membership information, contact Membership Director Leslie Kreofsky, 952-929-2569 or leslie@kreofsky.com.
