Periodically we feature a new member of the Rotary Club of Edina on our website. This week we meet:

Name: Yevgeniy "Eugene" Drozdov

Classification: Mortgage Banking

What was your first job? The first job I held was when I was about 10 years of age. The classification was "Organic Gardening" or in simple terms, Planting Potatoes clerk. My grandfather along with my grandmother had a small piece of land in the village about 50 kilometers from where my family lived. Every spring through the summer, I would become a Potato Planting expert. It was a seasonal job but a very consistent job market, although unpaid.

Who was your first role model and why? I have always looked up to the elders. My grandfather, dad and older brothers were the benchmark of what I should become.

Why did you want to join Rotary? Service above self is one of the concrete pillars on which every mans life should stand.  'It is more blessed to give than to receive." Edina Rotary definitely exemplifies this notion.

What do you like best about being part of the Rotary Club of Edina? There is a special vibe when entering Edina Country club on Thursday afternoon, the welcoming atmosphere is felt in the air and the unity of giving is distinct, making it a club you want to be a part of and affirms that it is in fact the "Best Club in the Universe."

What one piece of advice do you offer other business leaders? Be honest, transparent and focus on the needs of your clients. Never stop learning.
