Hennepin County Commissioner Jan Callison will be the program speaker at the Dec. 5 Rotary Club of Edina meeting. She will speak about "Counties: Minnesota's Invisible Level of Government." 

Callison has represented District 6 since 2009. Hennepin County District 6 includes Edina and 15 other cites west towards Lake Minnetonka. Commissioners are responsible for a the $1.7 billion county government, providing a variety of state-mandated services. She serves as vice-chair of the full county board, chair of its Budget Committee, and treasurer of the Regional Railroad Authority. She is one of two county commissioners who also serve on the external Board of Directors for Hennepin Healthcare System, which operates Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC). She was previously mayor of Minnetonka, where she and husband, Fred Reuning, raised three children, who all attended Minnetonka Public Schools.
