Back by popular demand is Ryan Amacher, former Economics Professor at the University of Texas. Many of you remember he was the only speaker where the entire Rotary audience did not want him to stop speaking at 1:30. I am excited that Brad Hepp was able to get him to speak to us again, this time about "Current Economics and the Upcoming Election".

Ryan Amacher was born in Wisconsin in 1945.  Ryan received his A.B. degree in Economics from Ripon College  in1967 (where he later served on the Board of Trustees for 12 years)  and his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Virginia in 1971. In 1971-1972 he served as a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army Infantry. He was a faculty member and named Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma from 1972-74. In 1975, he joined Arizona State as an Associate Professor and was named Department Chairman and Full Professor in 1977. He joined Clemson University in July 1981, as Professor of Economics and Dean of the College of Commerce and Industry. He served as President of the University of Texas at Arlington from 1992 to 1995. He retired as Professor of Economics at UTA last month and moved permanently to MN. Ryan works with business leaders in helping them anticipate the impacts of political change on the business environment. He has also participated in leadership development and management training.

In addition to his university experience, Amacher has worked as a consultant to government agencies, and private corporations, including The Federal Trade Commission, The Department of Defense, the states of Arizona and South Carolina, General Electric, Milliken & Company, Fidelity, Grant Thornton, & others. During 1974-75, he was with the U.S. Treasury Department as Senior International Economist and Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research. Amacher worked for General Electric in 1971-72, on a contract with the Pentagon on the creation of the Volunteer Army.
