Being the son of an artist and an entrepreneur, John’s career has been a blend of art and commerce.  John was a double major in Studio  Art and Economics at Williams College.  While a management consultant at Bain and Company in the late eighties, John was also exhibiting sculpture in New York.  After receiving an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University in 1993 he moved to Minneapolis where he cofounded Blu Dot in 1996.  Blu Dot designs and manufactures modern furniture ranging from their own branded line to custom designed products for large retailers such as Crate &Barrel and Target.  Their designs have been exhibited at numerous museums such as the Walker Art Center and the Museum of Modern Art.
