Our speaker on August 9 will be Alan Koehler, Senior Market Analyst at QuinStar Investment Partners, LLC which is based in Edina.  Alan will be speaking on the Unite Edina 273 petition whose purpose is to detach property from the Hopkins School District and then annex the property to the Edina School District # 273.  Since its initial development commencing in the early 1950s, the greater Parkwood Knolls has been designed to be an Edina neighborhood and consequently an integral part of the Edina community.  However, due to school boundaries created seventy years earlier during Edina's agrarian age, the entirety of this neighborhood has not been part of the school system that is best situated to serve the vast majority of these families.  Literally since the start of the neighborhood, parents have been seeking to change the school district boundaries.  Alan Koehler will be speaking about the efforts being made by Unite Edina 273 to finally make the change so long-desired by the families in the neighborhood.  In addition to providing an update on these efforts, Alan will also be speaking about the steps that have been taken to organize and engage the members of the neighborhood.
Alan, an Edina resident currently in the Hopkins School District, is leading the efforts of the Unite Edina 273 petition.  This group is an independent, nonpartisan neighborhood group representing over 400 families in the greater Parkwood Knolls neighborhood in northwest Edina.
By way of background, Alan is graduate of Colgate University and George Washington University.  He has been a member of serveral Board of Directors for private companies and maintains a true passion for the private business sector.
