The Rotary Club of Edina will welcome Julie Brekke of Project for Pride in Living as the program speaker at the Jan. 30 meeting. She will speak about "PPL: Helping People Help Themselves-Four Elements of Self Sufficiency." 

Brekke is the vice president of Programs, Fundraising, and Communications for PPL. She has more than 23 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, concentrating on fundraising, orchestrating capital campaigns, program development, evaluation and measurement, and nonprofit management. She has worked in various sectors of the nonprofit world, including human service, social change, and the arts. Brekke works closely with program staff, nonprofit colleagues, funders, donors, volunteers, and community members to advance the organization’s mission. She has directed PPL’s fundraising and communications work since 2000, and in 2008, expanded her work in the oversight of PPL’s human services, youth development, and employment skills training programs. She also oversees PPL’s volunteer program as well as data and evaluation at the organization. 

Brekke earned a B.A. in Art History from the University of Minnesota. She lives in the Linden Hills neighborhood with her husband, two children, and Australian Shepard puppy.
