Periodically we feature a new member of the Rotary Club of Edina on our website. This week we meet:

Name: Mike Ogle

Classification: Aviation and Real Estate

What was your first job? Airline Pilot

Who was your first role model and why? Sherman Levi Ogle (my grandfather)—aviator who was courageous, a problem solver, and hard worker. He flew the first aircraft in for the Berlin Airlift, flew Bob Hope on his tours to meet military personnel, helped detect the jet stream and was a main point of contact for JFK during the Cold War. He was always a role model in my life.

Why did you want to join Rotary? I wanted to join Rotary for three reasons:

  1. In order to give back to the local community by which we live in and love.
  2. Growing up, we had a foreign exchange student from Brazil through the Rotary student exchange. He was like a brother to me and that experience would not have happened if it were not for Rotary's dedication to connecting international communities.

The community I have felt from the moment I came to my first meeting. I believe this group will be a big part of our lives for a long, long time to come—for not only me, but also my wife and family.

What do you like best about being part of the Rotary Club of Edina? Connecting with people who are passionate experts in their field means a lot to me. People who commit themselves to Rotary speaks a lot to their foundational values and their diligence to continue to give back even with a full plate. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to form relationships with the Rotary community.

What one piece of advice do you offer other business leaders? The best leaders help to create leaders out of others— through inspiration, coaching and identifying what drives those around them. Through that mentorship we are paving a way for exponential potential!

Welcome to the No. 1 Club in the Universe, Mike!
