Rotarian John Flynn honored for work with local youth

Rotary Club of Edina member John Flynn will receive a Edina Connecting With Kids Leadership Award on Feb. 28. He is being honored for his work with area youth over many years, including directing Camp Enterprise for the Rotary Club of Edina and Edina Morningside Rotary Club in 2013. 

Connecting With Kids is part of the Edina Community Foundation. Every year it honors individuals, groups, or organizations who share the Connecting With Kids vision that healthy kids lead to a healthy community. The nominees for the Leadership Awards must have had an impact on kids within the city of Edina. Winners of the awards were selected by the Connecting With Kids Advisory Council. The awards are given out at the Connecting With Kids Leadership Breakfast on Feb. 28.

Rotary's Camp Enterprise is a three-day camp for area high school students that emphasizes leadership. More than 100 students attended the camp in 2013. Many local Rotary clubs sponsor students to attend the retreat, and many Rotarians volunteer their time planning and speaking at the event. Flynn organized the event this year.
