The “super” Super Bowl news was that our own Mike Kallas was actually seen in a commercial airing during the Super Bowl in January 2015. Rotarians at a meeting in February were treated to a replay of the commercial, and there was Mike—prominently-featured for at least a half-second in a commercial for retailer By The Yard, sporting an Augustana football jersey. Go to the By The Yard Facebook page to view the commercial.

You hit the big time, at last, Mike! Next year, Doritos commercial?

Rotary International President Gary C.K. Huang was in town last evening as the program for a joint meeting with the Minneapolis and St. Paul Rotary clubs, as well as Rotarians from the surrounding area.

Rotary Club of Edina was recognized by RI President Huang as the No. 1 Club in Rotary District 5950 with more Paul Harris contributors ($1,000 or more donation to The Rotary Foundation) than any other club in our area. Accepting this recognition on behalf of our club was our President Jeff Ohe (pictured at left in the middle, with RI President Gary Huang at his left).

Thanks to all the Rotary Club of Edina members who contribute to TRF, as well as to our own Fundraiser each year. We really do make a difference!

Kudos to fellow Rotarian Paul Peterson (pictured below with his musical siblings) for a great article in the Edina Sun-Current on Jan. 1, titled "Music family resurrects patriarch's event business."  The article begins:
Peterson Music and Events, an Edina-based music and events planning business, officially relaunched the family business this fall after a 45-year hiatus from formal event planning under the family name.

The company, spearheaded by Paul Peterson and his wife Julie, is a reincarnation of the same business that his father, Willie Peterson, began in the 1940s. For nearly three decades, Willie’s business, rightly named Willie Peterson Productions, served Minneapolis’ music and events industry by offering music production and event planning services from the Peterson’s home in Richfield.

The home, which Paul and his wife Julie recently bought and moved into, used to be the work and studio space for Willie and his clients, some of whom included Bonnie Raitt, the Steve Miller Band, George Benson and David Sanborn.

Congratulations Paul!
