Edina, Minn., August 4, 2011 – The Rotary Club of Edina is accepting applications from non-profit organizations in Edina and its contiguous communities for grants to be used for capital purchases.

Each year, the Rotary Club of Edina raises money at a fall fundraiser to support its projects and award grants. In 2010, more than $71,000 was raised for the Club’s service projects and local and international grants.

The Edina Noon Rotary, which meets every Thursday, works diligently to help those less fortunate,” said Community Service Projects Funding Director Grant Robinson. “Rotary’s motto is ‘service above self.’ To that goal, the Edina Noon Rotary holds a fundraiser each year during October. Tremendous effort is made by the members to raise money that is then granted to non-profit organizations within the community and the surrounding area.”

During the last Rotary year, the club made grants of more than $54,000 to those in need. Grants were also made to emergency food organizations, domestic abuse support and prevention organizations, inner-city youth and family organizations, and other groups serving people in need. While the Club’s Grants Committee does not fund working capital, it approves various other requests that enable these organizations to provide their services to those in need.

Grant applications are available online at www.edinarotary.org or by e-mailing Grant Robinson at grobinson@focusfinancial.com.

The Rotary Club of Edina meets Thursdays at 12:15 p.m. at the Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave. For more information about the Rotary Club of Edina, visit www.EdinaRotary.org. For membership information, contact Membership Director Leslie Kreofsky, 952-929-2569 or leslie@kreofsky.com.
