The Rotary Club of Edina announced that they have made a donation of $1,400 to the Edina A Better Chance Foundation (ABC).

The grant is to help fund in part the ABC house in Edina where the students live. The home needs extensive repairs including a new asphalt driveway, repairs to concrete, walkway, and steps. In addition, the group hopes to repair the exterior. The total cost of the project is estimated to be over $15,000.

Rotary President Steve Slyce noted that “Our Club is stepping up with other organizations and contributors to support this outstanding organization.  Students should be afforded the best environment possible to aid their overall educational experience."

Edina ABC provides low-income, academically talented youth of color from low-performing schools around the nation the opportunity to live in Edina and attend and graduate from Edina High School.

The Rotary Club of Edina is one of approximately 32,000 in over 200 countries and geographical areas. The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the idea of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; high ethical standards in business; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society; the application of the ideal of service in personal, business and community life; and the advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace.
