Rotary Club of Edina Receives Seven Awards at District 5950 Awards Program

April 13, 2012 – The Rotary Club of Edina
was recognized with seven awards at the Rotary International District 5950 Awards
Program on April 13, 2012. Awards are presented to clubs who have successfully
implemented new programs or made substantial improvements to existing programs,
and to individual Rotarians who have made significant contributions to their
clubs.
The Rotary Club of Edina received club awards in the areas
of: Community Service, Youth Service, Vocational Service, Public Relations and
Membership Development. In addition, two Edina Rotarians – Tim Murphy and Terry
Stevens – were recognized with “Service Above Self” awards for their
significant individual contributions to the club.
Tim Murphy was recognized for his many contributions to international service projects, including the expansion of District 5950’s Safe Water Plus Program to Kenya, Malawi, and Uganda; and personally funding nine trips to Africa. Terry Stevens was honored for his ongoing commitment to work with the youth in our community, including his active involvement with the Rotary Club of Edina’s Youth Exchange Program for more than 10 years
