Name: Axel Steuer
Classification: Higher Education Administration
What was your first job? After many part-time and temporary jobs from junior high through graduate school (from which I learned a lot), my first permanent job was in college teaching.
Who was your first role model and why? Two outstanding teachers, one during my undergraduate years and one who was a colleague at Princeton when I first began teaching. Both really cared about students and both had a flair for dramatic and effective teaching. Yes, my mother was a great role model for high aspirations, hard work, and persistence.
Why did you want to join Rotary? I had a great experience at a small-town Rotary Club in Illinois and greatly appreciate the "service above self " commitment of Rotary in action.
What do you like best about being part of the Rotary Club of Edina? Edina is again our home town, and the people I have met at Edina Rotary are thoughtful and professional.
What one piece of advice do you offer other business leaders? Integrity is not only the key to success but also essential for real happiness.
