July is the start of the Rotary year, and with that, new Rotary Club of Edina President Jeff Ohe took the gavel from Past President Steve Slyce at the transition meeting June 19.

Ohe will be president of the Club from July 2014 through June 2015. Along with a new president, the new Rotary year means board transitions as well. Thanks to Steve Slyce for his service in the past Rotary year, and to all outgoing board members for their years of service!

 

At the June 19 Rotary Club of Edina meeting, the presidential gavel was passed from President Steve Slyce to incoming President Jeff Ohe. Ohe will be president from July 2014 through June 2015. Ohe outlined his goals for the Rotary year at the June 19 meeting, including growing membership by 5 percent, to reach 170 members; hold a successful fundraising gala on Oct. 11, co-chaired by Jean Morrison and Mary Younggren; and launch the Edina Rotary Legacy Fund, an endowment fund designed to create a broader and longer-lasting level of financial support.

The new Rotary year welcomes San Asato as an officer to the Rotary Club of Edina Board. He will serve as Secretary. Other officers are Steve Slyce, Past President; Jennifer Bennerotte, President-Elect; and Ann Platt, Treasurer.

The new Rotary year means board members transition as well. Fulfilling their terms on the board were: Scott MacDonald, Past President; Mary Hustad, Membership (Recruitment) Director; John Flynn, International Service Director; Marty Kupper, Club Service (Administrator) Director; Tom Bach, Community Service (Projects) Director.

Some board members are continuing their terms, including: Mike Kallas, Community Service (Grants) Director; Doug Johnson, Public Relations Director; Will Steinke, The Rotary Foundation Director; Heather Hansen, Youth Service Director; Michael Stanzak, Membership (Retention) Director.

New board members for 2014-2015 are: Barbara Born, Club Servie (Administration) Director; Mary Swendsen, Community Service (Projects) Director; Josh Sprague, Membership (Recruitment) Director; and Gary Pedersen, International Service Director.
