Sami Cowger has been the Edina Girls High School head hockey coach for 8 seasons. An Edina Alum herself, Sami played hockey for Edina from 2007-2011 and then continued her hockey career at Harvard University where she played 4 years of college hockey. While at Harvard, Sami amassed 108 career points and captained her team to the National Title game in 2015.  Coach Cowger will be joined by recent EHS graduate and varsity hockey player, Nora McConnell.
After college, Sami became an Assistant Coach for the UMD Women's Hockey Team from 2015-2016. Once her "dream job" of taking over her alma mater's program opened up, Sami came back to Edina to take over that program in 2016. Since her takeover, Sami's coaching career record at Edina is 207-23-5 and she has helped lead the team to 5 State Championships in 8 seasons.
 
Outside of the rink, Sami is a commercial real estate advisor at Carlson Partners located in Edina, where she helps clients and companies align their real estate needs with their business needs. Sami and her husband Mitch currently live in Richfield and aside from their shared love for hockey, they enjoy traveling, golfing and spending time with family and friends.
 
Nora McConnell graduated from Edina High School in 2024 and plans to play Division 3 hockey at St. Olaf this fall. During her time at Edina she playe four years of varisty hockey, won two state championships (2021 and 2024) and was captain during her senior year (2023-2024).
