Join the City of Edina’s Police and Fire departments to help save lives through the Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. During the month of August, the City’s public safety departments compete against other agencies in the Twin Cities metro area to see which can collect the most amount of blood at local blood drives. Edina’s blood drive will take place 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Edina City Hall, 4801 W. 50th St., inside the Council Chambers.
Organized by Memorial Blood Centers, Battle of the Badges aims to raise awareness of the importance of
blood donation through a friendly life-saving competition between teams of first responders and their
community residents. The city with the highest participation and the most life-saving units wins.
With significantly lower than expected blood donations across Minnesota this past spring, all blood types are
needed, especially O negative (O-) and O positive (O+). Additionally, double red cell donations can be made
at the blood drive for individuals with types O+, O-, A negative or B negative. To schedule a donation, visit mbc.org/searchdrives and enter sponsor code 0111 or call Memorial Blood Centers at 888-GIVE-BLD. Limited-edition T-shirts are available to donors while supplies last
