For the first time in about six years Rotary Club of Edina hosted a blood drive on Oct. 25 with Memorial Blood Center’s mobile unit parked at Edina Country Club.

Thank you for showing up to donate as planned, and as meeting walk-ins, Rotarians, family members, friends and Edina Country Club members. We scored beyond expectations with 27 donations drawn by Memorial Blood Center over a four-hour span.

We scored beyond expectations with 27 donations drawn by Memorial Blood Center over a four-hour span. Most were "whole blood" donations. But one donor, Fred, was able to give a specialty double-red cell donation accounting for two pints. We salute you with double-thanks. Wow!

Thank you to our hero-donors, including: Michael, Mike, Rick, Royce, Chris, David A., David H., Heather N., Josh, Jen, Jennifer H., Jennifer D., Sylvester, Jack K., Jack C., Jake, John, Pam, Gerry, Margaret, Ralph, Sharon, Sonja, Skip, Stefanie, Michelle, Jill and Frank. Special thanks to Edina Country Club for allowing us to host and park the mobile van in the lot. Thanks also to Jack K. for promotional coordination with ECC, to Dave P. for PR assistance, to Rotary Club service director Marty K. for standing by, always at the ready, and to Rotary Club president, John Flynn, for creating the event. You’re our heroes.

Every two seconds someone needs blood. Only volunteer donors can help. Inspired, we will try again with a drive in 2019. To find another blood drive or after-work site, contact MBC.org or call 1-888-GIVE-BLD.
