The City of Edina will host a free Smart Salting Certification program for property managers 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11.

The training will help management-level property managers learn how to save money and protect water resources using less salt and still maintain safe paved surfaces. The tons of salt used every year to manage snow and ice damages infrastructure and vegetation and pollutes our lakes, streams and groundwater.

This is a three-year certification; to become Smart Salting-certified:
  • Attend training
  • Pass test
  • Pledge to hire certified contractors
  • Pledge to certify your staff
  • Pledge to reduce salt use on your properties
The class will be held at the Public Works & Park Maintenance Facility, 7450 Metro Blvd. There is no cost to attend and lunch is provided. Register with Water Resources Coordinator Jessica Wilson, jwilson@EdinaMN.gov.
