Periodically we feature new members of the Rotary Club of Edina. This week we meet:

Name: Don Hutchison

Classification: Financial Advisor

What was your first job? In my first job out of college I was a Public Information Specialist with the Montgomery County Health Department, Dayton, Ohio. Much earlier, in middle school, I mowed lawns in the neighborhood for $2-$4, depending on the size of the lot. I did trimming with hand clippers.

Who was your first role model and why? My high school football coach, Mr. Rocco. He helped me understand I could accomplish more working with others as a team and that I had more potential and more to contribute than I realized.
Why did you want to join Rotary? Men and women I know and respect in the community are Rotarians. Every Rotarian I meet is someone who adds value to the community. I want to associate with people who make a difference.

What do you like best about being part of the Rotary Club of Edina? Meeting and learning about people in the community.

What one piece of advice do you offer other business leaders? Talk to others by listening. Ask questions to understand. Do what you’re good at and know your limitations.
