Kaleena Burkes, Director for Missing and Murdered Black Women and Girls, "Breaking Barriers: The Historic Journey of the Office for Missing and Murdered Black Women and Girls"
 
Director Burkes has a strong background in advocacy, public policy, and research. She has dedicated her career to advocating for vulnerable and marginalized communities. Before becoming Director of the MMBWG Office, Director Burkes spent almost a decade at the State Guardian ad Litem Board where she honed her advocacy and public policy skills ensuring that families impacted by the child welfare system had equitable experiences.
She has also worked as a Research Associate at the Robina Institute of Criminal Law & Criminal Justice. As Director, she is dedicated to addressing and combating systemic issues that disproportionately affect Black women and girls. Director Burkes has both a Bachelors and a Masters degree from the University of Alabama. For additional information click HERE.
