The speaker at the May 10 Rotary Club of Edina meeting was Mike Wolbrink, President of Azule Staffing, the largest Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOSB) staffing company in Minnesota.
Lloyd Pearson, along with his wife June and son, Brad Pearson, was honored for his distinguished service to Rotary.

The May 10 meeting, presided over by San Asato, was opened with a prayer by Alan Mogck. Guests were introduced by Tom Bach.
Scott Hawkins was responsible for the front desk with Jennifer Garske , and Don Hutchison, Paul Peterson and Toshie Metzger were greeters, with John Flynn as photographer.
John Flynn reminded everyone that next weeks meeting (May 17) is a Vocational Day at the University of Minnesota Athletes Village. There will be a lunch, presentation and tour of the new facility. Please meet at 11:15 a.m. at the Edina Country Club parking lot to board the bus if you signed up; reservations are needed for both the bus and the tour. You can also drive to the the U and park in the 4th Street lot. Contact John Flynn with questions (612-819-5517).
Josh Sprague provided an update on the very successful Opioid Workshop, and explained the Deterra packets on the table. When combined with water, prescription drugs dissolve and become inactive. For additional information on the packets, please contact Josh (612-501-0252).
Steve Slyce then introduced Lloyd Pearson, June (his wife), and Brad (his son). Lloyd was honored for his distinguished service to Rotary. He joined the club in 1963 and was President in 1970–1971. His theme was “Bridge the Gap,” which made the group laugh in light of his profession. Lloyd has been active in the city of Edina, and was the first tenant in the Southdale Medical Building. He was also involved in starting the Edina Crime Prevention Fund after a murder was committed.
David Clynes, The Rotary Foundation Director for our club, reminded members about The Rotary Foundation donations and our motto “Every Rotarian Every Year." His target is to get funds in by June 22.
Steve Buettner introduced Maya Como and Destiny Washington, students from Edina High School. Maya, a senior, has been very active with Backpack Tutoring in the inner city grade schools, and she will be returning to Canada for college. Destiny, a junior, has also been very active with the tutoring program and her goal is to become an attorney, and possibly run for office.
Jen Tregarthen introduced the speaker, Mike Wolbrink, President of Azule Staffing. Mike was an Airborne Ranger, serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Mike and his staff help veterans find work. There is a high suicide rate with returning vets, and Mike mentioned that there are about 300,000 vets in Minnesota. He recommended the book "Tribe" to help us understand why vets have trouble transitioning when they return to their families.Scott MacDonald thanked the speaker and San closed the meeting with thoughts on staying hydrated as summer approaches.
