We heard from 2019-2020 Youth Service Director, David Aase.
 
After Mark Jessen's invocation, President Sprague made some announcements. There is an extension of the Governor's order prohibiting gatherings of more than 10 people requiring our club to meet via ZOOM through, at least, the second week in June. It was encouraged to take the meeting format survey at:https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/EdinaRotaryCOVID  It was also encouraged to sign up for TEXT alerts by opting in. Text "Rotary" to 22452 and receive meeting alert messages and special meeting notices. 
 
Past President and chair for the Youth Scholarship Committee, Jennifer Bennerotte, announced the two 2020 Edina High School recipients each will receive a $1,500 scholarship.These scholarships are given to seniors who exemplify the Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self", have embraced the Four-Way Test and participated in Rotary sponsored youth activities such as Camp Enterprise, RYLA, Vocation Seminar, Vocational Ethics Day, Youth Exchange or Interact Club of Edina. This year's scholarships were awarded to Camden Glass and Amrutha Garimella. Each student spoke at the meeting of their experiences, Camden was strongly involved with Youth Exchange and Amrutha was involved with the Rotary Club of Edina Interact club.
 
Aashna Kumar, 2019-2020 Interact of Edina President spoke about this year's activities and The Skate to End Polio donation of $1,700 to the Rotary International Polio fund. Mark Gasner, President of the Edina Rotaract Club spoke regarding their recently held board elections for next year. Mark will continue to serve on the board. This coming year they plan to focus on the club's vision and future focus. Mark asked for input from our club members in helping them achieve this goal.
 
Rosario Marin Reyes our 2019-2020 Youth Exchange student from Chile gave a presentation of her country and thank the club for sponsoring her.
 
The meeting program speaker was Yogi Reppmann. Yogi spoke of his ties to the Peace Pipe Proposal, a Rotary driven initiative to help advance the cause of world peace and understanding by learning more about the Peace Pipe Letters of 1931-32 and 2019. Back in the early 1930s, with nationalism and ideologies that violated human dignity on the rise, RC Keokuk, Iowa, extended their collective hands to their Rotarian friends around the world in a series of 496 “Peace Pipe Letters.” Eighty-eight years later, RC Keokuk members are repeating this long forgotten and beautiful gesture with a current crop of peace pipe letters epitomizing international friendship and understanding.
