As Brandon Azbill shared in his invocation some of these organizations that apply for grants are very inspiring.I really enjoyed our Jennifer Bennerotte's assembly presentation. She did a good job of efficiently taking us through reminders about serval important not to miss parts of how to get the most out of one’s Edina Rotary Membership. I highlight a few things here:
Join a Committee: Being on a committee really brings your participation in Rotary to the next level - it is lots of fun, very rewarding and a good way to really get to know other members. So do take a careful look at the list of committees that you received, (CLICK HERE) and get in touch with the leader of the committee that grabs your interest.
By now it is likely that you realize I’m currently leading the Rotary Foundation (TRF) Committee. This committee also oversees our PolioPlus awareness and campaign. The stronger connection we feel with where our support is going the more our club members will be compelled to participate, with time and or monies. An example of this will be the enthusiasm we will hear from our fellow Edina Rotarians just returning from Guatemala.
So, I am thinking there is opportunity here for a couple TRF committee members to learn more about Rotary’s International PolioPlus efforts and the work of our District 5950 grants committee and convey this information back to our membership. This and some other gratifying opportunities are available in our TRF committee.
Club Runner: I find Club Runner to be very helpful. As Jennifer showed, there is an Ap for any mobile device. This works well as a quick way to reach fellow Rotarians in our club. You can also see Club Runner in the “member’s section” of our website. With this tool I was able download all the contact profiles of our club membership to my address book and now when anyone from Rotary sends me a text I see their name instead of just a phone #. Visit other Rotary Clubs: Visit Rotary Clubs while traveling is a great opportunity to make amazing connections. You saw how Maya and Marina exchanged flags from their home club with John. When you travel domestically or internationally - we encourage you to visit the local Rotary Clubs. There is an online website CLICK HERE and of course there is an app for mobile devices. It is called “Rotary Club Locator.” As you have seen with visitors to our meetings, no formal reservation is necessary, just show up at the right time and you will be received with Rotary enthusiasm.
Rotaract: Another committee, we strongly encourage you to visit our new Rotaract Club - I know you will be very impressed. Next meeting is May 08, 2019 at 6:00 pm at the Mezz at Lund’s Byerly’s on France Ave.
