Nekima Levy Armstrong is a civil rights lawyer, legal scholar, activist, entrepreneur, community leader, and Executive Director of the Wayfinder Foundation. Nekima previously served as President of the Minneapolis NAACP and as Professor of Law at the University of St. Thomas Law School, where she founded The Community Justice Project, an award-winning civil rights legal clinic. Nekima’s work as a racial justice advocate, thought leader, and commentator has been featured in the New York Times, on Oprah.com, the Washington Post, Bloomberg News, the Star Tribune, the Minnesota Spokesman Recorder, the Black Wall Street Times, MSNBC, ABC, PBS, and CNN, to name a few. Nekima received her Juris Doctor (JD) from the University of Illinois, her B.A. in African American Studies from the University of Southern California, and she attended the Brooks School (an elite boarding school) in North Andover, MA for high school.
Nekima is a native of Jackson, Mississippi and was raised in South Central Los Angeles. She is the author of a social justice children’s book entitled, “J is for Justice”, which teaches young children about the power of protesting and advocating for justice. She is also the host of the “Justice & Power” podcast, which can be found on Apple and Spotify.
