"What is it? Why does it cost so much?" Jimmy Longoria is the only Chicano artist to have his art hanging in 3M’s global Innovation Center. He was awarded a Bush Foundation Artist Fellowship in Fine Art, and is the only Minnesotan to have art on permanent display in the National Museum of Mexican Art. His commitment to giving back to our community led Target Corporation to label him “Someone We’d Like You to Meet” in a national campaign, and choose his art to represent all Hispanic Art for a Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility symposium, a national gathering of Fortune 100 corporate executives. Recently, Jimmy was recognized as the Hispanic Star at the Hispanic Leadership Summit at 3M. In 2021 Jimmy was the sole representative from the United States in an international symposium of artists from 25 countries, put on by the U.S. Department of State. The McKnight Foundation honored him with a Virginia McKnight Binger Award in Human Service, and he received Ordway’s “Sally Award” for his artistic vision of giving back to the community. Jimmy is the only Latino artist to receive the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Living the Dream” Award from the City of Minneapolis.
Jimmy was recently commissioned to make community-reflective designs for both the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Jimmy’s art hangs in the corporate offices of 3M Global Headquarters, Target Corporation and the offices or homes of United States Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor; Former United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Julian Castro; Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison; collector and actor Cheech Marin; and prominent Minnesota Senators and Representatives, museums, schools, private and corporate collections across the country.
