A successful sunny day at the Capitol on Feb. 23 drew 80 Rotarians and international Northstar Youth Exchange students from some 20 different countries. Among them were 7 Rotarians and a spouse from Edina Noon club.
The theme was Rotary’s Four-Way Test of “The things we think, say and do.”
A moderated panel of a cross-section of Republican and Democrat lawmakers along with a representative of the non-partisan Citizens League each shared stories of working across parties on specific legislation, how they navigate interacting and social media with voters with opposing views.
Special experiences included: Guided history tours of the State Capitol, Supreme Court and Governor’s office along with a live Senate Session. Meeting several officials along the way.
Four of our Rotary students were invited to be introduced and answer questions at a live Education Committee hearing.
