The foundation of the Rotary Club of Edina recently awarded grants to Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People (VEAP) and the Edina Meal Fund to help with food insecurity in the community. There is more to this announcement. Click Read More below.
Established in 1973, VEAP serves low-income families, children, seniors and individuals at serious risk of hunger and homelessness. Located in Bloomington, VEAP serves the communities of Edina, Bloomington, Richfield and south Minneapolis, offering immediate and caring support through access to healthy foods, stable housing and financial support and assistance.

The Edina Rotary Foundation gave VEAP a $3,800 grant to support the Food and Basic Needs program activities, including the food pantry, mobile food pantry, food deliveries and rides home from the pantry to Edina residents. Rotarians asked that funds be used for the mobile food pantry, which provides healthy food access to families who are less mobile or lack transportation on a weekly or biweekly basis. Food pantry sites in Edina include Yorktown Continental Apartments and Rosland Park.

The Edina Rotary Foundation provided a $5,000 grant to the Edina Public Schools Meal Fund, done in partnership with the Edina Education Fund and Edina Give & Go. The Edina Meal Fund was created to assist with food insecurity for Edina families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Money for grants awarded by the Edina Rotary Foundation is raised at an annual fall fundraiser and gala and donations made throughout the year.
