Black Business and Edina Rotary Networking, Aug 25

August Event - Thursday,  Aug 25, 5:30-7pm. In partnership with Tomme Beevas and Pimentos Jamaican Kitchen, the next monthly Black Business Networking event will encourage us to continue to expand the efforts of our club's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. Speaker this week will be Chadwick Phillips, founder of "The Avant Garde music and entertainment company, artist and renaissance man. See complete bio below. This networking event will be held monthly on the fourth Thursday of each month from 5:30-7pm at Pimento Jamaican Kitchen, 2524 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55404. Meeting details are:

5:30-6:00 Social & networking time — the rum punch will be flowing! 
6:00-6:15 Introductions around the room, including each attendee's business background
6:15-6:45 Featured Black Entrepreneur presents their business story to the group
6:45-7:00 Q &A session and wrap up

Chadwick "Niles" Phillips is an artist & renaissance man who is the founder of "The Avant Garde" music and entertainment company that produces concerts featuring Twin Cities artists within the genres of Neo-Soul/R&B, spoken-word poetry, conscious hip-hop, live instrumentalists and visual artists. He has worked for BET, CBS and NYC Fashion Week. Plus he was on a major label called "Koch Records". His company "The Avant Garde" is made to carry on the rich tradition of great urban music & arts movements of the past along with creating community of uplift and unity through edutainment. 

He is also founder of the “Hip-Hop, History & The Arts” youth artist development program that he teaches all throughout Minnesota. He currently teaches as an artist in residence for Twin Cities Catalyst Music. As an artist, Niles has opened up for international Hip-Hop legends Rakim, Slick Rick, Yasiin Bey (Mosdef), Raekwon (Wu-Tang), U-God (Wu-Tang), Jay Electronica, Slum Village, Camp Lo, Grand Master Caz, Pete Rock and so many others. He has also hosted numerous concerts with the most notable being for Musiq SoulChild. His debut album “To Remain” is out now.
