Catherine (Katie) M. Simpson is the President of Bank of America, Minneapolis/St. Paul and Market Executive for the Global Commercial Bank at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. As Bank of America’s Minneapolis/St. Paul market president, Katie serves as the company’s enterprise leader by working across the region to connect its business lines to deliver integrated financial services to individuals, families and businesses. She also leads Bank of America’s environmental, social and governance work in the market, which leverages the unmatched capabilities of the company to help partners, people, communities, and a broad client and customer base to more effectively address a wide range of issues.As the Market Executive for the Commercial Bank, Katie leads a team of middle market professionals who leverage the product breadth, industry expertise, and global presence of the bank to deliver integrated financial solutions to mid-sized companies and institutions. Katie’s team cover these companies and institutions across Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin.
Katie joined Bank of America in 2007 through the M.B.A. Leadership Development Program. She has spent time in various lines of business supporting both commercial clients and high net worth individuals.
Prior to joining Bank of America, Katie worked at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in the secured lending group focusing on leverage buyout transactions for private equity firms.
Katie earned her B.A. in political science from Trinity College and an M.B.A. in finance from the University of North Carolina Kenan-Flagler Business School.
Katie is a board member of the Science Museum of Minnesota and the Minneapolis Institute of Art (MIA). She is also a member of YPO. She was recognized as being a top woman in finance from Finance & Commerce. She was also named a 40 Under 40 recipient by the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
