President Stanzak opened the meeting with various announcements and the listing of all the March birthdays and anniversaries. It has been an incredibly busy ten days for the Rotary Club of Edina.

We moved into the invocation, The Pledge and the Four Way Test
(Editors note 1.1: I have notice certain members are selecting their meeting seats based on having a clear view of the Four Way Test banner, I have been making a list of these members and will publish the list in a future Barker)
We had a large number of guests and visiting Rotarians, too many to actually list. IT was nice to see so many guests at our meeting. FYI - The food as usual was exceptional as well as the service from the staff of ECC!!
The community service group is collecting items for VEAP, there is still time to bring these items in to a meeting. You can also go to MyRotary.org and give money to humanitarian support of Ukraine.
Catherine Gump informed us of the kickoff of the Every Rotarian Every Year for donations to the Rotary International Foundation. Team Bennerotte and Team Ohe are competing to see who can get everyone on their team to participate this year. Jean Morrison gave a heart warming testament to global peace and her experience with the RI Foundations effort to support this initiative.
Our speaker Chris Newhouse is the Program Director for MATTER which is well aligned with our mission as Rotarians and we have partners on numerous projects with MATTER. In his role at MATTER, Chris ensures transparency and accountability for the business units and MATTER's push to accomplish the vision of sustainability through Social Enterprise. MATTER is a global nonprofit on a mission to help people launch projects that improve communities. As a partner of the Edina Rotary Foundation, they have done amazing work in helping our foundation secure equipment and facilitate global shipping logistics. Shelly Loberg worked for two years to get a grant for support of the maternal and pediatric hospitals in Zimbabwe, our club’s foundation contributed $24,000 other partnering $7,000 District designated funds of $30,000, a direct endowment of $105,000 from a donor and $45,000 from the Rotary International Foundation. In total the grant was funded with $210,000! This money allowed MATTER to be able to provide equipment and money to be able to reopen hospitals and proving resources to be able to grow their own food for the patients. This is one of many projects around the world where MATTER has been able to provide needed care and resources to many communities.
Don Hutchison thanked our speaker, President Stanzak closed our meeting sharply at 1:30.
