Josh opened the meeting of the #1 club in the universe and shared “where the money goes” for our club! Super Heros will be featured in this weeks Human Trafficking Conference. This organization is our club's signature project for 2019-2020 Rotary year.

Sam Thompson – District Training is coming up in Chaska on September 21st. It's a 2-1/2 hour workshop geared toward newer members and covering some of the basics of Rotary and our operations.
Mark Jessen brought us the program, Kelly Roysland, the Assistant Coach for Golden Gophers Women’s Basketball. Jessen shared the parallels between Kelly’s career, and his own: 1. Kelly averaged 8.5 points per game until her senior season where she averaged 13.2. Jessen was the “Best 9th Man” during his Epic Career in Hopkins. Kelly played in the Final Four with Lindsay Whalen and Jessen would have played in his championship, but there was a shortage of uniforms…you get the picture.
Kelly is married to Eric Curry, an NCAA basketball referee that has also spoken to our club. Since Eric told her he got a standing ovation when he spoke, Kelly got TWO standing ovations she could share with her hubby! (she shared that it’s true refs can have bigger egos than you think, and they have to think on their feet and manage through difficult situations!)
Lindsay Whalen (“Coach Whay”) could not be with us today because she is on a recruiting visit. Kelly shared that she has done “stand in” for Lindsay in 2004, when she broke her hand before the Final Four! Last year was “Year 1” of Lindsay/Kelly’s coaching, they were very happy with the result – 21-11 finish! They had to overcome ADVERSITY due to their conference schedule. They are looking forward to their schedule for this year. Their motto is “G-O-L-D” STANDARD: be Good to each other, Outwork others, be a Leader, and be Disciplined. This mantra is repeated frequently for the team and staff. Coach “Whay” will lead the team to 7 nationally televised games this year! It was a delight to hear Kelly’s story and it is obvious that the Golden Gopher BBALL Women have a dynamite leadership team!
