Celebrated musician and community advocate Paul “St. Paul” Peterson will be inducted as the Rotary Club of Edina’s 70th President at the group’s weekly meeting Thursday, June 27.“As the 70th President of the Rotary Club of Edina, I am honored to lead this dedicated group of individuals who embody the spirit of ‘Service above Self,’” said Peterson, who has been a Rotarian for 12 years. “Our goal is to create a club for everyone to come together and make a positive impact in our community. Together, we will continue to build on our legacy of service, bringing about meaningful change both locally and globally.”
The 2024-2025 Rotary International theme is “The Magic of Rotary.” Locally, Peterson is expected to usher in innovative projects, fundraisers and initiatives that reflect his commitment to inclusivity and community empowerment. Peterson will hold the Edina Rotary Foundation’s annual fundraiser Sept. 28 at Paisley Park in Chanhassen.
Rotary International begins its fiscal year July 1. At a year-end meeting June 27, the Rotary Club of Edina’s officers and committee leaders will be introduced. Besides Peterson, officers include President-Elect Lisa Walker, Treasurer Gerry Norton, Secretary Erica Allenburg and Past-President Shelly Loberg. Members of the club’s Board of Directors are Jamal Adam, DEI; Nikki Ahlgren, Community Service – Projects; Nick Van Beek, Community Service – Grants; Eli Groenendyk, Youth Service; Jennifer Hendrickson, International Service; Chris Laskowski, Public Image; Raj Kumar, The Rotary Foundation; Mike Martiny, Club Service – Administration; Vinita Steffl and Brent Lundell, Membership; and Julie Westbrock, Social.
Joining the officers to make up the Edina Rotary Foundation Board of Directors are Renee Harberts, Mike Kallas, Mike Martiny, Stefan Smith, Susan Stiles and Ryan Wilson.
The public is welcome and encouraged to attend the year-end meeting when Peterson will be inducted as President. The meeting begins at 12:15 p.m. at the Edina Country Club, 5100 Wooddale Ave. Cost is $23.
