Mar 16 Speaker: Kate Agnew, Kyros VP/Head of Engineering
Kate Agnew is Vice President and head of Engineering for Kyros, a start-up with the vision to increase positive recovery outcomes through a human-centric, technology-enabled approach to substance use disorder treatment. She previously was the Senior Director of Software Engineering for Optum and responsible for a team of 70 engineers in the U.S. and India. 
 
She’s just completed terms and major leadership responsibilities with the Macalester Alumni Association and the Laura Jeffrey STEM-focused Middle School in St. Paul and has been recently named a public policy fellow by the University of Minnesota’s Humphrey Institute. 
 
Last fall, she was elected to the Edina City Council seat after serving as Chair of the Edina Planning Commission and is Philanthropies Treasurer for Edina Federated Women’s Club (with whom Edina Rotary is teaming with on service projects). She lives in Edina with her husband, Joe, and their two daughters ages 2 and 3.

Jayanthi Rajasa is multidisciplinary artist, teaching artist, and songstress dedicated to singing from the heart.She has been in more than 10 performing and recording bands in The Twin Cities. She also works with Mama Mosaic on a "Minnesota Girls Are Not For Sale" piece that has been performed for over 9 years seeking freedom for women and girl sex slaves in Minnesota. Rotary Club of Edina Seeks Nominees for Women In Leadership Award
 
The Rotary Club of Edina seeks nominees for the 16th-annual“Chrysanne Manoles Women In Leadership Award.”
 
Nominees cannot be current Rotarians and must live, work or volunteer in Edina. Female nominees must demonstrate Rotary’s “Four Way Test” of the things we think, say or do: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
 
To nominate a woman for the prestigious award, submit a one- or two-page letter explaining how the person demonstrates the Four Way Test and what she does in the community outside of any professional position she holds. Letters should be sent to jbennerotte@EdinaRotary.org or Rotary Club of Edina, 4801W. 50th St., Edina, MN 55424. Letters must be postmarked by Saturday, April 15.

Edina Rotarian, Global Scholars Educator Receives AFS-USA Global Educator of the Year Award
An Edina Rotarian who leads the Edina Rotary Global Scholars program at Edina High School was named the 2023 AFS-USA Global Educator of the Year.
 
AFS-USA, the largest partner in a worldwide network of non-profit, volunteer-based international education organizations, recently announced Lindsey Smaka, a science and teacher and a global studies leader at Edina High School, earned the award.

Spring Service Projects
The Rotary Club of Edina is looking forward to this spring when the following service projects will give our members the opportunity to serve the local community. Saturday, April 15 is a rescheduled event in partnership with MN Involve and their work with the unsheltered Minneapolis population. Grant Snyder and his team are grateful for our help with the assembly of relief kits and the preparation and serving of lunch in Loring Park. Saturday, June 3 will be spent in service to JCS Affective Sober Living who operate two sober homes providing women a safe and healthy transition while in recovery from addition.
