In April 2018, Sgt. Grant Snyder, the Minneapolis Police Department’s nationally recognized human trafficking expert, took on the role as the department’s liaison to the city’s homeless. His approach to working with the city’s dispossessed will be to use more collaborative ways to address the complex, intertwined causes of homelessness.
Our Edina Club Rotaract group joined the March Emerging Leaders Wednesday, March 13 at LIV Chiropractic to prepare sandwiches for "The Sandwich Man's" homeless outreach program. Last year, Allan Law distributed over 800,000 sandwiches to the approximately 4,000 homeless and people in need. With the exception of sandwich making, Mr. Law does much of the distribution work alone, cat napping in his van and working 20-hour days. He also distributes bus tokens, hygiene products, winter wear, socks and blankets. Mr. Law personally joined us during our packing session and it was an honor to become a part of his story and mission. For a better understanding of Mr. Law’s dedication and program click “More” and watch the video.

Another smashing meeting was held today. I missed last meeting due to illness and was glad to be back. Our own Paul Mooty, with scheduling help from Marty Kupper, did a fine job officiating from the podium - filling in for our absent leader.
Today we recognized Mike and Jullene Kallas as our newest Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation. They were joined by their lovely daughter Angie McGuire and granddaughter Lille. Mike, with Lille in his arms delivered a strong reminder of why they have and continue to consistently support The Rotary Foundation. It is all about the joy of giving - giving to a very effective effort that is helping to build a better future for our world and will continue to do so for generations. Thank you again to Mike and Jullene Kallas.
